Can Belarusians independently relocate the boundary of a land plot?

The State Committee on Property explained that Belarusians can only work on land in agreement with their neighbor.

The committee emphasized that in Belarus it is prohibited to alter the established boundary of a land plot independently. The boundary is defined not by a fence but by land‑administration documentation and the coordinates of reference points.

It is forbidden to move boundary markers, shift a fence beyond the established boundary, or annex part of a neighboring or free land plot, the press service listed.

The State Committee also clarified that Belarusians cannot even adjust a plot's boundary “in agreement with a neighbor” on their own. Doing so requires the proper documentation.

If one believes the boundary has been set incorrectly, one must consult specialists, the committee stated.

If a change of the land plot’s boundary is necessary, it must be carried out in accordance with the procedures established by law and the required documents must be prepared.
