Brest customs officers at the Kozlovichi checkpoint uncovered an attempt to illegally import a large shipment of auto parts into the EAEU territory. Part of the cargo, which was not declared in the accompanying documents, was being transported from France in a DAF truck operated by a Polish carrier.
The discrepancy between the actual goods being moved and what was declared was identified using an inspection and search complex.
Further inspection confirmed that more than 2,000 units of goods were being illegally imported.
The value of the “unreported” shipment was over 200,000 rubles, and the amount of customs duties that should have been paid on it exceeded 50,000 rubles.
Brest customs has initiated an administrative proceeding in accordance with Article 15.5 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction under the article provides for a fine of up to 30 % of the value of the administrative offence.
The missing payments will also have to be paid.
