Beauty should not demand sacrifices, especially when it comes to health. Today, beauty industry services – manicure, pedicure, permanent makeup, piercing, and haircuts – have become an integral part of life for many Babruysk residents. However, non-medicinal procedures that may damage the skin carry hidden threats. Specialists of the UZ «Бобруйский зональный центр гигиены и эпидемиологии» remind us: a master's negligence can cause infection with dangerous pathogens. Any breach of skin integrity or mucous membranes is an open gateway for pathogenic microorganisms.

Through non-sterile instruments, the following can be transmitted:

• Viral hepatitis B and C; these viruses are extremely resilient in the external environment. Hepatitis B remains dangerous on surfaces for several weeks. Even a microscopic, invisible drop of infected blood on scissors or a bur can lead to infection. In the future, this may result in cirrhosis or liver cancer.
• HIV infection. The virus is less stable outside the body

Zone-based CGI hygienist Sveta Matlakh recommends city residents exercise vigilance and pay attention to the following details when visiting a master:

• Craft Packets. Sterile instruments must be extracted from a specially sealed craft packet strictly in your presence.
• Sterilization Indicator. There is a square or round indicator on the craft packet. Pay attention to its color: it should have changed (for example, from beige to brown or from pink to gray – depending on the type of packet). This proves that the packet was indeed in a tendon or autoclave.
• Disposable Materials. Drills, buffs, wipes, finger separators, sheets, collars and the master's gloves must be disposable and disposed of immediately after the procedure.
• Workplace. The table, chair, lamp and tubs must be disinfected with an antiseptic after each client. The workspace must not have traces of oil from the previous visitor.
• Hand Hygiene. The master must wash their hands with soap and apply antiseptic (as well as the client's skin in the treatment area) before the session begins, then put on clean disposable gloves.
