Belarus's foreign currency and gold reserves grew over August to $15.243 billion

Belarus's foreign currency and gold reserves increased by $1.048 billion over August and as of 1 September 2026 totaled $15.243 billion, BELTA was informed by the press service of the National Bank.

"The growth in the volume of foreign currency and gold reserves was mainly driven by an increase in gold prices on international financial markets," the press service noted.

Foreign currency assets and monetary gold account for the largest share in the structure of Belarus's international reserve assets. According to the National Bank, the volume of foreign currency in the reserves as of 1 September amounted to $5.9176 billion, having increased by $108.7 million over August, while the volume of monetary gold stood at $7.9135 billion, having increased by $929.8 million.

According to the targets of monetary policy, the volume of Belarus's international reserve assets at the end of 2026 should amount to no more than $9.2 billion.
