Belarus and Mexico plan to expand mutual exports and establish direct business contacts. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov held a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to the Russian Federation, Eduardo Villegas Mejías. The parties assessed the dynamics of bilateral trade and identified priority areas for further development of agro-industrial cooperation.
The turnover of food products and agricultural raw materials between the countries demonstrates steady positive dynamics. At the end of 2025, its growth rate amounted to almost 158% compared to the 2024 level, while Belarusian exports increased 2.2 times, mainly due to supplies of dry skimmed milk.
In the first half of 2026, the trend continued: total trade turnover reached 106.6% compared to the same period last year. The key items of Belarusian exports remain dry whole and skimmed milk.
In the structure of imports from Mexico this year, vegetable seeds, fruits, berries, and coffee predominate.
However, the potential for interaction is significantly broader. The parties are interested in further increasing Belarusian supplies, including a wide range of dairy products and the entire range of goods from CJSC Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation.
"The interaction between our countries has significant potential. We need to develop joint approaches and organize direct ties between business circles," noted Yuri Gorlov.
Eduardo Villegas Mejías confirmed the Mexican side's readiness to facilitate the establishment of direct contacts between business communities, including through organizing a video conference under the auspices of the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries. "Belarusian agricultural technologies and production are of great interest to Mexico. We are ready to provide diplomatic assistance, since business must interact directly," the ambassador added, noting the received guarantees of full support for all relevant issues from the Belarusian side.
As a confirmation of friendly relations, on September 5, a Mexican Culture Day will be held in the center of Minsk. The event will be open to everyone and will include a presentation of national traditions, tasting of culinary delights, and a concert program.
