Alexander Lukashenko announced an agreement with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on implementing the project to build a nitrogen plant in Belarus. The President stated this during a meeting with the Governor of Ulyanovsk Oblast, Alexei Russkikh, according to the press service of the head of state.

Gazprom to be brought into the project

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the Russian company Gazprom is planned to take part in the project.

The Belarusian leader also proposed considering the possibility of American participation in the construction. The idea is to jointly implement the project using American technologies.

"We need to offer it to the Americans. They want fertilizers — nitrogen ones included — please, let's build it together. Using your technology. You, Gazprom, and Belarus. We already have a site picked out, all the infrastructure is in place. If not, we'll build it with Gazprom, with the Russians, and sell the finished product," Lukashenko noted.
