Belarus Imposes Temporary Ban on Export of Industrial Goods

Starting September 23, the export of certain types of industrial products will be restricted for six months. The relevant resolution was signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin. The measure was introduced to prevent unjustified export of industrial goods from the territory of Belarus and to avoid shortages of such goods on the domestic market, according to the Telegram channel of the Belarusian Government.

What changed in the list of goods

The list of goods subject to the temporary export ban has been updated. In particular, it excludes items for which the permit-based export procedure was deemed impractical given law enforcement practices. These are goods for which, during the period of the restrictive measure, there were either no export applications at all or their quantity was insignificant. In addition, goods exported outside the republic to the distribution network of Belarusian organizations abroad or to special representatives have been removed from the ban. Also excluded are products whose export and technical maintenance is complicated by the need to obtain export permits.

Additional exceptions

Based on the practical application of the measure, additional cases have been established in which coordination of goods export is not required. This decision aims to simplify procedures for businesses and eliminate excessive bureaucratic barriers. The document will be in effect for six months — until March 22, 2027. As noted by the government, the ban has been introduced on a regular basis for more than four years and is adjusted taking into account the real market situation and law enforcement practices.
