Belarus has updated requirements for residential construction. What changes for multi-story buildings and private houses.

The standards regarding the distance at which buildings may be located from a fire station have been clarified. If the fire station does not have special equipment for rescuing people from heights (aerial ladders or elevating platforms), the service zone is limited to 2.4 km. If such equipment is available, the zone is determined by the equipment's lifting height. "In other words: the better equipped the fire station, the farther it can 'service' buildings," the enterprise explained.

The requirements remain that the distance from the edge of built‑up areas to coniferous and mixed forest must be at least 50 m, and to deciduous forest at least 20 m.

Another innovation: architects are prohibited from laying vehicle routes across pedestrian pathways leading to children's and sports playgrounds. The route to sandboxes, swings, and outdoor exercise equipment must be completely isolated from through traffic.

"Change No. 4 eliminates the possibility of 'reaching an agreement with the neighbor' for new construction, but it does not require demolishing structures that are already close, nor does it prohibit reconstructing existing buildings—it simply forbids expansion toward the neighboring plot. At the same time, rules for the placement of container areas have been established (no closer than 20 m from windows of residential buildings, schools, and kindergartens), mandatory charging for electric vehicles is introduced (at least 10 % of parking spaces), fire‑station service zones are clarified (2.4 km without height‑rescue equipment), firebreaks to forests are retained (50 m for coniferous and 20 m for deciduous species), and laying vehicle routes across pedestrian pathways leading to children's playgrounds is expressly prohibited," summarized RUP "СТРОЙТЕХНОРМ".
