The event was attended by experienced workers and young employees of the public catering sector: confectioners, cooks, and waiters.

“We are organizing such a round-table meeting for the third time; the previous two showed that the interest and benefit for both sides are obvious,” explained Elena Rakovets, chairperson of the primary trade union organization. “This year, our team has been joined by 13 young workers and specialists. The purpose of the event is to exchange opinions, engage in a dialogue between generations, and discuss important topics related to the professional sphere and beyond.”

The trade union leader reminded the participants of the measures to support young people and retain them in their first jobs, which are contained in the “local constitution.” These include mentoring, granting paid social leave for part-time students, compensating part of housing costs and assisting non-residents with dormitory accommodation, including the period of study in the length of service for calculating salary bonuses, and paying one-time financial assistance upon first marriage and the birth of children.

Natalya Borsukova, a leading goods expert and active representative of the younger generation, told the newcomers about participating in trade union campaigns, district and city cultural, socio-political, and sporting events.

“Everyone can prove themselves both at work and in public life; everything needed for a good start is in place,” believes Ekaterina Protosovitskaya, a confectioner with 40 years of experience. “We are always ready to help, advise, and share our know-how. The rest depends on your personal desire to constantly develop and improve; technological progress and information technology are at your service.”

By the way, at the recent regional “Dozhinki” festival, the karavai of the Stolin district, baked by Ekaterina Protosovitskaya and Anna Grechko, was recognized as the best in the region based on audience voting.

“The meeting turned out to be warm and heartfelt, like a family gathering; I liked the atmosphere of goodwill and support,” noted young confectioner Vyacheslav Zhelezny. “When you come to your first workplace, it is important to understand that you are welcome here and they are ready to help you not only adapt to the team but also improve your professional skills.”
