How the exams for tour guides and interpreter guides are conducted was explained by Yulia Kras'ko, head of the Strategic Planning Department of the National Tourism Agency.

Yulia Kras'ko gave a detailed description of the current mechanism for confirming the qualifications of guides and interpreter guides. “The attestation process, in general, consists of two stages. The first is computer testing. The second stage is the defense of a selected route before a commission. The commission is made up of professionals in their field—cultural figures, scientific staff, university lecturers. During the attestation, not only the knowledge of the route itself is evaluated, but also the future guide’s ability to present information, maintain attention, and engage interest in the route they are leading,” the speaker explained.

The National Agency also offers five‑month training courses for tour guides and interpreter guides. These courses are not mandatory for passing the attestation. The instructors are practitioners from the tourism sector.

This year, 13 attestations are scheduled in Belarus, to take place in all regional centers and the capital.
