Apple unveiled new iPhones — and immediately raised prices on the older models.

After the presentation at which the foldable iPhone Duo was unveiled, Apple raised prices on all its previous-generation iPhones. The price increase reportedly affected the iPhone 16, the entire iPhone 17 lineup, and the iPhone Air. Today, these devices cost more at official retail outlets than they did yesterday.

For instance, just a few days ago the iPhone 16 sold for $699, but now its price has risen to $799. The iPhone 17e with 256GB of storage now costs $699 instead of $599 — the price at which it was launched. And the iPhone 17 now starts at $899 for the 256GB model, up from $799. This trend continues with the iPhone Air, which now costs $1,099 instead of $999.

At the same time, the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max also cost $100 more than their predecessors: from $1,199 and $1,299, respectively. According to experts, the price increase is driven by an ongoing component shortage caused by the construction and expansion of data centers for AI. This shortage has had a particularly strong impact on the price of RAM, and there are currently no signs of relief.
