Construction is a driver of the Belarusian economy, and the construction of rental housing is a driver of housing construction. Where are we building?

In recent times, rental housing in Belarus has attracted close attention. It is both an alternative to buying one's own home, a way to quickly solve the housing issue, a tool for attracting specialists, and even an opportunity for purchase for certain categories of specialists and in small towns with populations up to 20,000 residents. Moreover, it offers the possibility not to look for work near home, but to find a home near work.

In the first half of the year, 195 thousand square meters of housing were built against a target of 130 thousand square meters. For the year, an input of about 650 thousand square meters is expected.

Where is rental housing being built? In the first half of the year, the leaders were Mogilev Region, as well as Gomel and Vitebsk Regions. In Mogilev Region, about 60 thousand square meters were built, and in Vitebsk and Gomel Regions, 31 thousand square meters each.

In construction, the primary consideration is the needs of military personnel, persons equated to them, and other categories of citizens, including workers in demanded specialties and young specialists.

The focus on rental housing will continue. In 2026–2030, it is planned to build, with state support, 6.5 million square meters of residential space, of which 5 million will be rental.
