In Minsk, agricultural fairs will operate until December 6, weather permitting. This was announced by Elena Nagornaya, head of the Main Department of Trade and Services of the Minsk City Executive Committee, BELTA reports.

Agricultural fairs in Minsk have already become a familiar annual tradition. In the current season, trading started on September 19. The practice of extending fairs until December has been around for several years and enjoys support from both sellers and city residents — and it is intended to be maintained going forward.

The main trading venue is set up near Chizhovka-Arena, with nine additional sites operating in different districts of the capital. According to Elena Nagornaya, fair locations were chosen with logistics convenience in mind: the sites can accommodate many participants, a significant portion of whom trade directly from their vehicles. Parking has been arranged for buyers, with convenient access roads and space for vehicle maneuvering.

Individuals are allowed to participate in the fairs — provided they have a certificate confirming their land plot and a list of the produce they grew — as well as peasant (farm) enterprises and their representatives, manufacturing enterprises, and Belkoopsoyuz organizations. Products from Belkoopsoyuz enterprises will remain especially in demand: eight such enterprises are involved in the fairs this season. Their goods are distinguished by lower prices compared with regular Minsk retail outlets and a wide assortment. Due to high demand and a large number of regular customers, sellers often start working before 8 a.m. — queues form in advance. Many private sellers also take part in the fairs.

The largest influx of participants is expected in October: by that time, farms and agricultural enterprises plan to complete the harvest campaign and will be able to present city residents with the full volume of collected produce.

The participation of BRSM activists is also noted separately: they provide assistance to vulnerable categories of citizens — pensioners, people with disabilities, and others in need — in delivering goods purchased at the fairs to their homes.
