A unified ticketing system for buses and minibuses will be introduced in Belarus: what will change for passengers

In Belarus, a unified state information system for selling bus and minibus travel documents will be created.

Its creation must be completed by July 1, 2027, and the operating procedure of the system has already been approved by a resolution of the Council of Ministers.

What can be done through the system

The GIS of ticket sales is intended for seat reservation, sale of travel documents, and baggage receipts.

It will cover suburban, intercity, and international road passenger transport in regular service.

This means that passengers will be able to search for trips, compare options, reserve seats, and purchase tickets for buses and minibuses all in one place.

The system should make the purchasing process more transparent and convenient.

Who will manage the system

The operator of the GIS has been designated as the Joint Stock Company “Capital Transport and Communications”.

It will be responsible for integrating carriers’ information systems with the unified platform.

By February 1, 2027, the operator must approve the operating regulations of the system.

They will define the procedure for submitting integration requests, providing information, restrictions, and restoration of access to information resources.

Why digitization of transport is needed

The main goal of the innovation is to create conditions for fair competition, improve service quality, and enhance relations in the passenger transport sector through digitization.

The unified system should simplify interactions between passengers, carriers, and government bodies.

For passengers, this could mean a clearer search for trips, transparent ticket sales terms, and less need to look for information on different platforms.

What will change in air transport

The resolution also empowers the Ministry of Transport and Communications to adopt a National Program for simplifying formalities in international air transport.

The program aims to simplify and unify procedures for controlling passengers, luggage, and flight crews.

It is expected to improve the quality of air transport services and help reduce restrictions on international flights of Belarusian airlines.

What passengers need to know

The creation of the system is scheduled for July 1, 2027, so changes will be implemented gradually.

Until then, tickets for buses and minibuses can be purchased through familiar channels: ticket offices, carriers’ websites, and apps.

After the launch of the Unified Interdepartmental Information System, passengers should monitor updates on the websites of carriers and the Ministry of Transport: the rules for purchasing tickets, the procedure for refunds, and the list of integrated carriers will be published there.
