How Belarus is implementing projects to create a unified fare payment system for urban transport and a unified ticket sales system for commuter and intercity passenger transport, chief of the Department of Automotive and Urban Passenger Transport of the Ministry of Transport and Communications Andrey Gladkiy told journalists, reports BELTA correspondent.

Andrey Gladkiy noted that tender procurements are being carried out under the unified fare payment system project. Equipment is purchased by public transport organizations. “In full, such a system is functioning in Minsk. By 2027 it will be implemented in all cities,” he said.

There will be an option to pay for travel not only by punching a ticket, but also via a mobile app and bank card.

A unified state system for selling tickets for commuter and intercity passenger transport is also being created. A corresponding decree has been signed, and at the government level a regulation has been adopted outlining the procedures for all participants in the process—regarding the entry of information into the state information system about routes, trips, drivers, and vehicles. “The software development is planned to be completed by the end of the year. Starting February 1, all entities will be able to enter data. First—passenger transport operators, carriers,” Andrey Gladkiy explained.

According to him, now a passenger, to choose an optimal route, has to contact several services. “We will combine resources into one information system. At the same time, the operation of accompanying booking and ticket sales systems is not prohibited. The passenger will have the option to address both the existing information system and, more broadly, the GIS ‘Ticket Sales’ platform. Information will be available about all trips and available seats,” Andrey Gladkiy added.
