A republican press tour dedicated to the 33rd Day of Belarusian Written Language has launched in Kostyukovichi

The organizers were the Ministry of Information, the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, the Kostyukovichi and Kritchev District Executive Committees. Nearly fifty journalists and bloggers gathered on the hospitable land to see over three days the industrial, tourist, and cultural potential of the eastern region.

The first stop on the tour was the educational institution "Kostyukovichi District State Gymnasium." A modern press center was set up on the basis of the institution, which became the main working platform for journalists and bloggers for the coming days.

"This festival is the only one in the country that changes its capital every year. The authorities, the region, and the population prepare for it," emphasized Denis Ezersky, Deputy Minister of Information of Belarus. "A tremendous amount of work has been done over the year. Anyone who has ever been to Kostyukovichi will see the city in a completely different way. In our time, media products reach the consumer very quickly. This year we have engaged the blogging community. The press tour is an opportunity to show not only the center of the celebration, but also the industrial and tourist potential of the city."

Chairwoman of the Kostyukovichi District Executive Committee Natalia Osmolovskaya spoke about the large-scale transformations in the city and shared her expectations for the upcoming celebration. The most notable event is the unveiling of the sculpture of Alesya and Ales. Bus stops featuring portraits of writers and lines from their poems have become art objects. New exhibition halls have opened at the museum.

After getting acquainted with the press center, the participants went to the Kostyukovichi Forestry Enterprise, where an excursion along the ecological route "Trail of Health" awaited them.

"We export sawn timber to China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Russia," noted Alexei Kudelko, director of the Kostyukovichi Forestry Enterprise. "Compared to last year, revenue from sales amounted to 108 percent. In addition to our main activity, we are engaged in subsidiary farming — we have an apiary, collect honey, and harvest birch sap."

The ecological trail, created back in 2002 and improved in 2018, has become a true calling card. It is a unique place in the city center where different types of trees and shrubs are presented. There are benches and gazebos. People with strollers and children come here. It is a piece of forest accessible to everyone.

The next stop was the "Vysokoye" quarry — the raw material base of OAO "Belarusian Cement Plant."

– The total area of the mining allotment is 490 hectares, – said Nikolai Kazak, head of the mining shop. – The quarry is developed in three benches, with a total depth reaching 40 meters.

Right there, journalists spoke with Olesya Kolyadko, deputy chief technologist, who emphasized that cement quality is improved every year. New additives are used for this purpose, and modernization is carried out.

The tour of OAO "Belarusian Cement Plant" continued at the factory laboratory.

– The laboratory is divided into seven sections. Fifty-five people work here, – said Natalya Murashkina, head of the laboratory. – We are accredited in the national system, technically competent, and perform tests in accordance with the declared scope of accreditation.

After that, the delegation headed to a site for raising valuable fish species – the trout farm "Lokhva."

At the enterprise in the village of Nizki, journalists were shown the process of growing out trout from fry to market-ready fish.

Mikhail Zaitsev, head of the valuable fish breeding site No. 3 "Vysokoye" of OAO "Trout Farm 'Lokhva'," shared that work is currently underway to increase processing in order to supply the market with finished products, not only live fish as is currently practiced for Russian partners.

In the evening, the participants were received at Prince Potemkin's Palace in Krichev. Marina Marusova, a researcher at the state cultural institution "Historical Museum of Krichev," conducted a tour of the ceremonial halls. There she told how the palace was built in 1787. It survived the years of the Great Patriotic War. Almost all exhibits are antiques. Today, the Krichev district executive committee's registry office is also located here.
