
Belarus and Russia signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the construction of the high‑speed railway Moscow–Minsk, the Ministry of Transport reported. The length of the HSR will be 700 km, travel time – about 3 hours.
The process of full‑scale preliminary work on this initiative is already underway.
The document was signed by Belarusian Minister of Transport and Communications Alexey Lyakhovich and Russian Minister of Transport Andrei Nikitin at a meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers in Minsk.
Alexander Lukashenko mentioned the agreement with Vladimir Putin on the construction of the high‑speed railway.
Since April this year, cross‑border trains have been launched: Smolensk–Vitebsk and Smolensk–Orsha. The “seamless” border crossing at the price of a suburban electric train has interested citizens of both countries. The results of the pilot projects have exceeded forecasts many times over.
