Employees of the Minsk regional customs office discovered €4,000 in a package that arrived from Germany addressed to a Belarusian woman. The cash had been hidden in a candy wrapper.
The sender declared that he was sending cosmetics, clothing, and food products. However, during inspection at the customs clearance point at “Minsk Post,” staff noticed one of the candy boxes. The packaging looked suspicious, so they decided to open it. Inside, instead of sweets, they found cash in euros.
For this reason, customs initiated an administrative proceeding under part 2 of Article 15.1 of the Belarusian Code of Administrative Offences. The money was seized before a court decision.
Customs reminded that sending cash in international postal shipments is prohibited. The amount or currency does not matter.
