The official opening of a joint Belarusian-Kyrgyz enterprise for the production of electrical transformers will take place in September. This was announced to journalists by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belarus to Kyrgyzstan, Sergey Molunov, according to a BelTA correspondent.

In Bishkek on August 31, a solemn ceremony took place for the signing of the agreement on the launch of a joint enterprise for the production of electrical transformers, with the participation of Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov. The Minsk Electrotechnical Plant named after V.I. Kozlov is participating in the project from the Belarusian side.

"The official opening of the plant will take place on September 11 with the participation of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, via online connection," the ambassador noted. "This is a very significant project, important in terms of our industrial cooperation."

The diplomat called the implementation of this project a concrete example of developing cooperation between Minsk and Bishkek. Previously, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced plans to increase trade turnover with Kyrgyzstan to $500 million. "We are working to achieve this figure," Sergey Molunov stated.

A memorandum of cooperation for the implementation of the power transformer assembly project was signed in April 2024 between the Minsk Electrotechnical Plant named after V.I. Kozlov, the Kyrgyz Transformer Plant, and OJSC Kyrgyzindustry. A production site was determined for the project based on the facilities of the Bishkek Stamping Plant.
