This was reported to journalists by Olga Nikolaichenkova, First Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, during a visit to the calf rearing facility at the Mostok dairy complex of JSC Polykovichi in the Mogilev district, a BELTA correspondent reports.

The construction of calf rearing facilities in the region was carried out on the instructions of the head of state — the task was set to create comfortable conditions for keeping young cattle. "Today, 44 calf rearing facilities have been built in the Mogilev region. Comfortable conditions have been created for keeping more than 10,000 calves, eliminating the need to keep them outdoors. We were supposed to complete this work by October 1, but we accelerated thanks to the coordinated work of all services, including construction organizations," said Olga Nikolaichenkova.

The new calf rearing facility in the Mogilev district was built to a standard design and has 216 places. According to Alexey Shuplyakov, director of JSC Polykovichi, the appearance of such a facility has improved the conditions for keeping young stock, which has a positive effect on animal survival. And, importantly, the working conditions for calf attendants have also improved significantly.

"We have purchased pens, two milk taxis, machines for washing buckets and nipples, a defroster, a bucket dryer, and a box for drying calves after birth," emphasized Alexey Shuplyakov. "The work of calf attendants — this facility is staffed by three people — has become more automated. Much of what they used to do by hand is now done by machines."

The facility is filled with their own calves. "Our herd allows us to ensure occupancy with our own calves," the director noted.

Work to create comfortable conditions for animals and improve their survival in the region continues. "We are building calf rearing facilities as part of the construction of livestock facilities under decrees No. 365 and No. 143. That is, everything is moving toward improving conditions. Calves will not be kept outdoors. They are already under a roof now, and complexes continue to be built, along with them — calf rearing facilities," summed up Olga Nikolaichenkova.
